Position Overview

We are seeking a talented and versatile Web Developer with deep Shopify expertise to help us elevate our digital ecosystem. In this role, you will work at the intersection of ecommerce, enterprise systems, and emerging technologies, building scalable solutions that drive customer experience and business intelligence. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and outside vendors to deliver high-impact digital solutions that scale with our growth.

Position Duties / Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Senior Engineer and VP of Technology in a collaborative environment.
• Ongoing development of ecommerce solutions, APIs, and system integrations within the Shopify ecosystem.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain new software features and enterprise tools.
• Collaborate with internal teams and contractors to deliver robust, scalable, and maintainable systems.
• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with technical expertise and accountability.
• Partner with outside vendors to design and implement third-party integrations across business systems.
• Contribute to the strategic technical direction of Liberty New York’s digital platforms.

Qualifications / Experience / Skills / Competencies

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of professional Shopify development experience.
• Expert proficiency in JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and Liquid.
• Experience with the latest Shopify features (Metaobjects, Checkout Extensibility).
• Strong front-end design and user experience sensibility.
• Ability to effectively leverage AI coding tools (Cursor, ChatGPT, etc.).
• Proven ability to rapidly learn and implement new technologies.
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience building custom Shopify apps and API integrations.
• Experience working with Ruby on Rails (strong plus).
• Experience architecting scalable ecommerce solutions and business intelligence systems.
• Familiarity with AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS, S3, Docker, etc.).
• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

• Occasional to frequent sitting.
• Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
• Continually required to talk or hear.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, low volume.
• Specific vision abilities required include: Close vision, Color vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Salary Range

$100,000-$150,000 Annually

As required by applicable Pay Transparency laws, Liberty New York provides a range of compensation for roles that may be hired in locations under these requirements. To determine starting pay within the hiring range, we carefully consider a variety of factors including primary work location, role/level, candidate’s skills, experience, market demands, internal parity, and other relevant factors. Flexibility outside of the listed salary range may be considered for additional skills or qualifications.
