Work Type: HYBRID - Partial In Office 3 Days / Partial Remote 2 Days

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Engineer to help design, implement, and maintain our enterprise data systems. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize database performance, ensure data integrity, and support the company’s business intelligence initiatives. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to build scalable and reliable database solutions that drive business growth.

Position Duties / Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain relational and non-relational database systems.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and optimal performance for all database operations.
• Collaborate with software engineers, analysts, and product teams on data-driven solutions.
• Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, and storage.
• Develop backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Assist in data migration, integration, and ETL processes for enterprise systems.
• Contribute to the strategic technical direction of Liberty New York’s data architecture.

Qualifications / Experience / Skills / Competencies

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of professional experience in database engineering or administration.
• Strong expertise in SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar).
• Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, etc.) is a plus.
• Knowledge of database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
• Familiarity with ETL processes and data warehousing concepts.
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with cloud databases (AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB).
• Experience designing and maintaining high-availability database systems.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation.
• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

• Occasional to frequent sitting.
• Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
• Continually required to talk or hear.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, low volume.
• Specific vision abilities required include: Close vision, Color vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Salary Range

$100,000-$150,000 Annually

As required by applicable Pay Transparency laws, Liberty New York provides a range of compensation for roles that may be hired in locations under these requirements. To determine starting pay within the hiring range, we carefully consider a variety of factors including primary work location, role/level, candidate’s skills, experience, market demands, internal parity, and other relevant factors. Flexibility outside of the listed salary range may be considered for additional skills or qualifications.
