Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Principal Data Scientist to lead inventory and logistics planning initiatives. You will design, implement, and deploy data science and machine learning solutions that optimize inventory levels, forecast demand, and improve operational efficiency. This role allows you to have significant impact on our business performance and customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute data science strategy for inventory and logistics planning aligned with business goals.
- Identify and prioritize high-impact projects that optimize planning processes.
- Design, develop, and refine predictive models for demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and workforce allocation.
- Leverage advanced ML and optimization techniques to solve complex supply chain problems at scale.
- Deploy ML models into production, run experiments, and monitor performance.
- Collaborate with product, business, and engineering teams to implement solutions.
- Communicate insights and outcomes to stakeholders and leadership.
- Enhance data infrastructure by identifying gaps and implementing solutions with engineering teams.
- Promote best practices across teams and ensure consistency in data-driven decisions.
- Drive automation to ensure scalable and production-ready solutions.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, operations research, or another quantitative field.
- 7+ years of professional data science experience in inventory, logistics, or related industries.
- Hands-on experience with ML, predictive modeling, optimizations, and GenAI applied to business planning.
- Deep knowledge of statistical, optimization, and ML techniques.
- Proficiency with Python, SQL, and relevant data science libraries.
- Experience deploying models to production and monitoring performance.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with BI platforms such as Looker, Tableau, or similar.
- Team player, adaptable, and proactive problem solver.
Work Environment
This is a remote-friendly role. SF Bay Area candidates will work in a hybrid capacity from our Palo Alto office (3 days/week). Fully remote candidates will operate independently from their location.

Salary Range
$150,000-$220,000 Annually
